Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). In Washington she was named general correspondent by NBC News two year later. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips with the president Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
